Monday Kfirst Kickstart: #Empowered week 3 “The Holy Spirit and Your Emotions”

Today I want to give you a place to start your week. It’s Monday and in the wake of a great weekend and a workweek ahead, sometimes you just need a “kickstart” to get focused.  So grab some coffee let’s start a great week together.

We continued our current series in our Kfirst community that focuses on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. And our focus turned to our emotions. (Click here for yesterday’s notes.)

Yesterday we hosted John Opalewski of Converge Coaching. John shared his testimony of his own challenges with depression and how the Holy Spirit worked in his life. It was here where he directed us to how the Holy Spirit impacts our emotions. He does it in four ways:

  1. Partnership
    • The Holy Spirit wants to partner with us to help us “guard ourselves.” (Acts 20:28)
  2. People
    • As we say all the time at Kfirst, the enemy works in isolation, God works in community. The Holy Spirit moves through others as well as moving in and through you into people (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).
  3. Prayer
    • The Holy Spirit works through us as we pray. One of the ways is, when we pray, He brings to our minds the areas we need to deal with and/or focus upon (Romans 8:26-27).
  4. Practice
    • In the words of Paul, “Whatever you have learned or received or heard…or seen in me—put it into practice.” When we hear from the Holy Spirit, we live out and make active in our lives (Philippians 4:8-9).

This week, would you purpose to take time each day to posture yourself in the presence and allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through your emotions. If you’re finding yourself struggling, reach out to someone and allow the Holy Spirit to minister through them to you.

Love you all. We’ll see you this Sunday as we continue our series.

BTW: Here’s the song for your prayer playlist.

Monday Kfirst Kickstart: #Empowered week 2 “Break the Fourth Wall”

Today I want to give you a place to start your week. It’s Monday and in the wake of a great weekend and a workweek ahead, sometimes you just need a “kickstart” to get focused.  So grab some coffee let’s start a great week together.

We continued our current series in our Kfirst community that focuses on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. And our focus turned to Acts 3:1-10 as we desired to “Break the Fourth Wall.”  (Click here for yesterday’s notes.)

The “Fourth Wall” in both theater and literature, was the invisible wall that separated the cast from the audience. It was a way to pay attention to your current cast and storyline while tuning out the audience the audience in front of you. The challenge from Sunday was to NOT live life with ANY wall/separation between you and the Holy Spirit. We believe God wants to empower the ordinary opportunities of our lives to create extraordinary moments.

We looked at 2 of the attributes of God’s presence:

  1. The omnipresence of God.
    • Where you are, there He is.
  2. The manifest presence of God.
    • The demonstration of God coming closer in, through, and upon us.

In Acts 3, we see Peter and John stepping out in the “manifest” presence of God and healing a man lame in both feet. How did they move in the power of God? It’s as simple as posturing their lives to engage in the presence of God. We identified three simple ways to do this on an every day basis:

  • Actively bring our lives under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
  • Consistently deposit the word of God into our lives.
  • Frequently spend time in His presence.

This week, would you purpose to take time each day to posture yourself in the presence and allow the manifest presence of God to fill you. And as He fills you, step out in obedience and allow him to do the extraordinary through you.

BTW: Here’s the song we’ve introduced during the series!

Monday Kfirst Kickstart: #Empowered week 1 “Third Wheel”

Today I want to give you a place to start your week. It’s Monday and in the wake of a great weekend and a workweek ahead, sometimes you just need a “kickstart” to get focused.  So grab some coffee let’s start a great week together.

We kicked off a new series in our Kfirst community that focuses on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. And our series began with a focus upon four words out of Acts 1:4, “you heard from me.” We wanted to look at Jesus words regarding the Holy Spirit. (Click here for yesterday’s notes.) “I believe in the Holy Spirit” is more than a theological statement. It is a personal declaration.

As we began our look at the empowerment of the church in Acts, we started with a teaching on the Holy Spirit. Our desire was to establish that the Holy Spirit isn’t a “third wheel” (superfluous) to a believer’s life but essential to us.

So we looked at the words of Jesus to see who the Holy Spirit is.

  1. The Holy Spirit is a someONE not a someTHING. John 14:17
  2. The Holy Spirit is God. Matthew 28:19
  3. The Holy Spirit is involved in every step of salvation. John 3:5, John 16:8
  4. The Holy Spirit is our comforter. John 14:16
  5. The Holy Spirit is our helper. John 14:16
  6. The Holy Spirit points toward Jesus. John 15:26
  7. The Holy Spirit is our source of power. Acts 1:8

As a believer in Jesus, we have an uninterruptible power supply that is available without measure. And that power is found in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

This week, would you find some time engaging in prayer and asking the Holy Spirit to do a work WITH you, IN you, and UPON you? Would you allow Him to do a brand new work in your life outside of your comfort zone. Remember, the Holy Spirit will not make your problems go away, but will empower you to face your problems in God’s strength.

Also, don’t forget to join us EACH SUNDAY NIGHT for our “Encounter Nights” as we move into times of worship and prayer together to see our lives “Empowered” with the Holy Spirit’s presence.

Love you all. We’ll see you next week.

BTW: Here’s the new song that we used on Sunday morning.
