Monday Kfirst Kickstart: “Drop A Pin In It” #PivotPoint

Happy Labor Day!

Today I want to give you a place to start your week. It’s Monday an in the wake of a great weekend and long workweek ahead, sometimes you just need a “kickstart” to get focused.  So grab some coffee let’s start a great week together.

Loved the day we at Kfirst yesterday. We started our series “Pivot Point” as we are studying the life of Jacob. Even though he didn’t have the “model life”, God always had something beautiful in store for him. Our goal yesterday was to help “Put our past in its place.”

Two of our main thoughts:

  1. Your past can either deepen you or destroy you.
    • There are too many people inflicting their present with the past. God wants to use your unique past to deepen who you are.
  2. God delights to begin where you have given up.
    • When we are ready to release our control, when we are done “trying”, God is wanting to take the “reigns” and begin a new work in you and through you.

We all are affected by our past. But we have a choice of what we should do with it. Some drop ANCHORS as if to say, “this is where I’ll stay.” An anchor will give a resemblance of freedom but will never allow you to move outside of its confines. Ultimately the goal is to make you live where it’s been lowered.

Instead of dropping an anchor, DROP A PIN. A pin on a map marks locations you want to remember. And if we’ll give God our past, and let him redeem our story, our HISTORY will become HIS STORY. The drop pins of our lives will tell the redemptive story of God.

This week, take a look at your past. Where you’ve “dropped anchors”, replace them with “pins” and thank God for his redemptive work in you. Secondly, make a turn from old connections. Make some changes in your thinking, behaviors, and environments that keep bringing you back to your old way of living. And lastly, tell someone about your journey. Tell someone for accountability. Tell someone for the sake of sharing the love of Jesus that has transformed your life.

Love you all.  See you on Sunday as we continue our series, “Pivot Point.”

BTW: Here’s a great Reading Plan For This Week
