Happy Monday! This weekend was all about getting life and giving life. We celebrate 5 people giving their lives to Christ this past Sunday.
Here are 5 things I want you to know about…
#1 – We started our “V” series. We are challenged every day by those around us who want to “suck the life” from us. John 10:10 says, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” There was so much great feedback from yesterday. I want to share a quote from a message someone sent me late last night:
“I really enjoyed the series and like many others at first thought of a few people who needed to hear it and then realized that I too have been guilty of being vampire.”
Our TRUTH we began with yesterday: “Loving difficult people starts with realizing you’re difficult to love too.” Before we point the finger at someone else, we need to self assess our lives to make sure we are modeling Christ and giving life to people. We are quick to point the finger at others and not start with ourselves. We challenged everyone to “take your thumb off the scale” and deal out an overabundance of grace. If you missed the message, download it from iTunes later on Monday or hit the website.
#2 – We are reading through the Gospels as a church!
You can pick up a reading plan at the church…OR…you can join us on youversion. I firmly believe, consistent doses of the Word brings heart change. If you need a reminder, sign up for daily emails from this blog and we’ll connect you with the scriptures you need. Today we are reading Matthew 15, Luke 15, and John 15.
#3 – “Light the Night” outreach is moving forward and coming up fast. It’s this Halloween. LTN is an outreach designed to reach the neighborhood. We have 3 locations in three neighborhoods in close proximity to the church. If you didn’t get a chance to sign up, contact Pastor Todd at firstname.lastname@example.org.
#4 – Chapel Service and Hymn Sing is coming up this Thursday! If you’re one of our senior adults, you don’t want to miss out on an amazing time. Our pastoral team has been rotating through and bringing the Word.
#5 – Be in prayer over our upcoming elections. I want to challenge you to take some time as an individual and families to pray over our government and local leadership. 1 Timothy 2 says, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
That’s all we have today. Keep up on your reading…and keep bringing life to the people around you.
Thanks for letting me ramble…
